Our kids are rough on doors and hinges. So it was no surprise when the bathroom door hinge finally ripped of the door frame. It wasn't the first time. I had already used longer screws (and then even longer screws) to reattach the hinge. I was running out of solutions. But today I learned about the toothpick method. And it worked (at least for now)! If you have this problem, check out the article linked below for a few different options to fix it.

Pepe Le Pew stinks
Remember the good ole days when children's TV shows were wholesome and pure? No, you don't. Because they weren't. Physical violence, bullying, hazing, racism, and sexual violence were the norm.

Spanking is not a biblical mandate
According to surveys, most Americans spank their children. I don't think they are necessarily bad parents. Nor can I demonstrate that spanking is always wrong. While there is some research and data, it is not conclusive. In fact, most arguments for and against spanking are based either on theory or anecdotes. So I won't try to settle the great spanking debate here.
Instead I want to dispel the myth that spanking is a mandate from God. Many people seem to believe that the bible commands parents to spank their disobedient children. But this is simply not true. Here are some facts to help clear up this misconception.

We can't turn it off
We thought we could just turn off our TV and be done with it. It sounded easy enough. But we quickly found that it wasn't so easy. Video entertainment is a monster that follows us around. It waits for us in the restaurant. It lurks in the doctor's office. It bombards us as we stroll through the mall. It slithers into schools through the cracks of a crumbling education system. It even invades places of worship.
This isn't the reason that we stopped watching. No, I didn't fully realize how desperate the screen was for our attention until we stopped willingly giving it our attention. Now I notice things.

Netflix doesn't care about your kids
Netflix was warned immediately about the negative impact their show 13 Reasons Why would have. Warned by many experts! They moved forward anyway, because protecting kids isn't their goal. They care about profit. And they made a bunch of money filming bloody rape scenes and fantasies of suicide for everyone to enjoy.
